Some places seem to belong to us long before we understand why.
Breath Of Belonging grew from my Irish roots, my family name and the connection I have always felt towards Ireland. As I have explored more of my ancestry and the lives that came before me, that connection has only deepened.
The sea runs through the song, as it does through so much of what I create. Here, it holds both distance and belonging, the space between where we are and where something within us still feels drawn.
Irish words are woven throughout: oíche chiúin, a quiet night; réaltanna lonracha, shining stars; farraige ghlas, the green-grey sea; and i mo chroí fós, still in my heart.
And that last phrase holds the piece most simply.
Something carried through names, ancestry, land and sea.
Something still in my heart.
