Your name and email address;

Any other information you choose to provide.
When you use hælu, certain technical information may also be collected automatically. This may include your IP address, device type, operating system, browser information, app activity, pages or content accessed, diagnostic information and general usage or analytics data.
Some of this information is collected on our behalf by the technology providers used to operate hælu.
How We Use Your Information
We may use personal information to:
Create and manage your account;
Provide access to hælu and its content;
Manage memberships and subscriptions;
Process and maintain records of purchases;
Respond to questions and provide customer support;
Send service-related communications;
Maintain the security, performance and functionality of hælu;

Our Legal Bases for Using Your Information
Under UK data protection law, we must have a lawful basis for using personal information.
Depending on the circumstances, we may process your information because:
It is necessary to perform a contract with you. This includes creating and managing your account, providing a membership or subscription you have purchased and giving you access to paid content.
We have a legitimate interest in doing so. This may include operating, securing, maintaining and improving hælu, understanding how the service is used and responding to enquiries, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
You have given us consent. We may rely on your consent for certain optional communications or technologies where consent is required. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
We have a legal obligation. We may need to retain or use certain information to comply with applicable legal, tax, accounting or regulatory requirements.
Emails and Communications
We may send you communications that are necessary for your account, membership, purchases or use of hælu.
If you separately choose to receive newsletters, updates or other marketing communications, we may use your contact information for that purpose.
You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe option provided in the communication or by contacting us.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent us from sending essential messages relating to your account, membership or purchases.
Payments and Subscriptions
Payments and subscriptions may be processed by third-party payment providers or through an app store, depending on how you access hælu.
hælu does not ordinarily receive or store your full credit or debit card details. Payment information is handled by the relevant payment provider or app store according to its own privacy and security practices.
We may receive information relating to a transaction, such as confirmation that a payment was successful, the type or status of a subscription, transaction identifiers and information required to manage access to purchased content.
Service Providers
We use third-party providers to help operate hælu. These may provide services including app development and hosting, account management, technical infrastructure, analytics, email delivery, payments and subscription management.
These providers may process personal information where necessary to provide their services.
GoodBarber provides technology used to operate the hælu app and Progressive Web App and may process account, device, technical and usage information in connection with those services.
Where appropriate, service providers process personal information subject to contractual and data protection requirements.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
The web version of hælu may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for the service to function.
We or our technology providers may also use cookies or similar technologies for purposes such as remembering preferences, maintaining sessions, understanding use of the service, analytics, security and improving performance.
Where consent is required by law for non-essential cookies or similar technologies, these technologies should not be used until the appropriate consent has been obtained.
You may also be able to control certain cookies through your browser or device settings.
Analytics and Technical Information
We may use aggregated or technical information to understand how hælu is used, identify problems, improve functionality and develop the service.
Where possible, we aim to use this information in a way that does not directly identify individual users.
Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share personal information with trusted service providers where necessary to operate hælu, process payments, provide subscriptions, deliver communications, maintain security or provide technical services.
We may also disclose information where required by law, regulation, legal process or a lawful request from an appropriate authority.
International Transfers
Some of the service providers used to operate hælu may process information outside the United Kingdom.
Where personal information is transferred internationally and data protection law requires safeguards, we aim to ensure appropriate protections are used.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
The appropriate retention period depends on the type of information and why we hold it.
For example, account information may be retained while your account remains active, while transaction and financial records may need to be retained for longer where required for legal, tax or accounting purposes.
When information is no longer reasonably required, we will delete or anonymise it where appropriate.
Your Rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have the right to:
Ask for access to the personal information we hold about you;
Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
Ask us to delete your personal information in certain circumstances;
Ask us to restrict how your information is used;
Object to certain uses of your information;
Receive certain personal information in a portable format;
Withdraw consent where we rely on consent; and
Complain to a data protection authority.
These rights are not absolute and may be subject to exceptions under applicable law.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@haelu.org.
Account Deletion
If you have a hælu account and would like your account and associated personal information deleted, you can use any account deletion option made available within the service or contact us at hello@haelu.org.
We may need to retain limited information after an account is deleted where required for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention or regulatory purposes.
Security
We take reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, loss, misuse or disclosure.
However, no website, app, transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Links to Other Services
hælu may contain links to websites, places, products or services operated by other organisations.
When you follow a link to a third-party website or service, that organisation is responsible for its own privacy practices. We encourage you to review its privacy information where appropriate.
Children
hælu is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children where parental or guardian consent would be required under applicable law.
If we become aware that personal information relating to a child has been collected contrary to applicable requirements, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy as hælu develops, our services or providers change, or legal requirements change.
The current version will be made available through hælu, and the date at the top of this policy will show when it was most recently updated.
